Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Tech-Mammography in Spartanburg, South Carolina
Position Summary
Under the supervision of a Radiologist, utilizes specialized knowledge and skills to produce high quality mammographic images for screening and/or diagnosis, invasive breast procedures and DEXA exams for specified patient population. Assumes responsibility for directing and controlling qualitative and quantitative standards of work performed at Bearden-Josey Centers of Breast Health.
Minimum Requirements
Education
- Associate’s Degree from an approved AMA School of Radiologic Technology
Experience
Documented 40 hours of training specific to mammography as required by the FDA
Documented 8 hours training in each mammography modality to be used to perform exam as required by the FDA
Documented performance of 200 mammogram exams in the last two years as required by the FDA
Documented 15 hours of continuing education , 3 years consecutively as required by the FDA
License/Registration/Certifications
ARRT registry in Radiography with registry or registry eligible status in Mammography
South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association Licenses
Current Basis Life Support (CPR and AED) provider

Core Job Responsibilities
Perform screening and/or diagnostic mammograms and bone densitometry exams
Assist radiologist with invasive breast procedures
Review images for quality and tissue acquisition
Explain procedure to patient reducing anxieties and obtain patient history relevant to exam
As requested by radiologist communicate results to patient
Open communication with scheduling and registration to ensure appropriate physician order is obtained
Engagement with Breast Imaging Navigator as needed to assist with further patient needs or appointments
General equipment assessment, reporting any issues to Breast
Other Duties as assigned
