SC Department of Public Safety Registered Nurse II/ETR in Richland County, South Carolina
Under the supervision of the Director of Evaluation, Training, and Research (ETR), plan, provide, and evaluate educational programs for the Division of Inpatient Services (DIS). Programs include orientation of new employees, on-going staff education, and evaluation of staff competencies.
You will implement and teach educational offerings/programs for nursing, clinical, and support staff to include Orientation, CPR, and BEST. You will enter the data into the Pathlore database.
You will design, develop, and revise course content for orientation, continuing education, and in-service to teach SCDMH employees to care for the patient population based on identified learning needs.
You will design, develop, and implement a competency program for nursing staff to meet the Joint Commissioner's requirement for accreditation.
You will evaluate the effectiveness of educational offerings/programs.
You will conduct follow up with newly hired nursing staff on a scheduled basis to help facilitate the resolution of any issues or concerns that newly hired nursing staff may express.
You will conduct extensive orientation for student nurses who are affiliated with SCDMH, and lead recruiting efforts by providing insight and experience about being a nurse at SCDMH.
You will consult with employees, upon request, regarding clinical and/or administrative issues.
There are three (3) positions available
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience. Licensure as a registered nurse by the S.C. Board of Nursing.
Agency Requirements:**A bachelor's or master's degree in nursing or a degree in education and related nursing experience. Must be licensed by SC Board of Nursing as a registered nurse.

You must be licensed as a RN by the S.C Board of Nursing and have extensive knowledge of nursing practices, including theories and techniques.
You must have the ability to teach, structure programs, evaluate learning needs, and competencies. As well as the ability to cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team.
You must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
You must maintain current certification in child/infant/adult CPR with AED, first-aid, and BEST.
You must have the ability to work within the department and nursing philosophies and mission.
You must have the ability to stand, walk, reach, push, pull, stoop, and bend. You must be able to climb at least two to three flights of stairs. You must have the ability to lift up to 30 pounds routinely with the ability to lift 50 pounds or more in an emergency. You must have manual dexterity. You must have the ability to tolerate increased noise levels and circulate in patient areas for long periods of time. May be exposed to blood and other bodily fluids.
