SC Department of Public Safety Pharmacy Technician/Medical Assistant Technician II in Richland County, South Carolina
This position is located at the Department of Mental Health, C. M. Tucker Jr. Nursing Care Center at 2200 Harden St, Columbia, SC 29203
You will assist the professional staff of the pharmacy department of the C. M. Tucker Jr. Nursing Care Center in performing under limited supervision paraprofessional duties involved in the practice of pharmacy. To demonstrate understanding, compassion and sensitivity to the geriatric population the facility serves.
Responsible for assisting in billing related functions to include but not limited to, checking pharmacy transactions for accuracy, maintaining insurance records and files. Prepares and distributes prior authorization documents.
Assists in the filling, labeling, recording, packaging and delivery of medications, i.e., cart fill, floor stock orders, PH-21's and PRO's. Performs related computer functions and filing.
Assists in the maintenance and inspection of pharmacy shelf inventory and on-site medication storage including unit inspections; repackaging medication and compounding of pharmaceutical preparations and maintenance of equipment.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirements: A high school diploma and experience or training within the specific work area.
Agency Requirements: High school graduate or equivalent with one (1) year experience in the care, storage and dispensing of medications or in transcribing physician's orders for medications or successful completion of a pharmacy technician program. Must be licensed as a certified pharmacy technician.

The selected candidate must be able to bend, stoop and walk to other buildings. Should have an in-depth knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid billing regulations. Must have excellent computer skills and experience with QS-1.
