SC Department of Public Safety Human Services Coordinator I (Activity Therapy Supervisor-BPH) in Richland County, South Carolina
This position is located within the Division of Inpatient Services' at G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital, Address: 220 Faison Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.
Under the supervision of the Activity Therapy Service (ATS) Program Manager, supervises a comprehensive, multi-disciplinary Activity Therapy Program; plans, coordinates, conducts, supervises goal oriented referral programs and leisure activities that meets the recovery needs of patients admitted to an acute care facility. Provides in-services related to program changes and patients care needs; ongoing program evaluation to ensure that all aspects of the program meets the need of acute patients and extended care.
Serves as supervisor of ATS. Develops, plans, implements goal oriented therapeutic groups for assigned section and lodge(s)/unit(s). Ensures appropriate groups for patients' participation and implementation. Evaluates program effectiveness of programs for assigned section. Completes timely performance ratings and competencies of staff providing necessary guidance and training. Provides and ensures lodge/unit coverage. Assists with formulating forms and policies ensuring DMH and accrediting standards are understood/met.
Provides and ensures accurate, concise, legible documentation for all groups and activities. Assist staff with providing and maintaining timely and consistent written and electronic documentation. Prepares, maintains and submits timely statistical and written reports.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
State Requirement: A bachelor's degree and professional experience in human services or social services programs.
Facility Requirements: A master's degree in Recreation with emphasis in Therapeutics, Art, Physical and Leisure Education, Exercise Science, Health, Music, Health Science, Sports Management, Psychology, Human Performance, Fine Arts and two (2) years of experience in the above fields; or a bachelor's degree and three (3) years supervisory experience in the above fields working with adults. Must have a valid SC driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications: Certification with the National Council of Therapeutic Recreation is preferred.
All candidates must have the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stoop, bend, push, pull, climb, stoop, maneuver patients in a wheel-chair, stand, walk for long periods, work outdoors, and drive at night as needed in a recreational setting?
