This position is located at* 220 Faison Drive, on the G. Werber Bryan Psychiatric Hospital Campus, Columbia, SC 29203*

You will plan, organize, manage and coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Coding, Insurance, Medical Record and ROI sections for the William S. Hall Psychiatric Institute (WSHPI) HIS department in compliance with applicable standards set forth by TJC, DHEC and the DIS HIS Division. WSHPI is a 58 bed psychiatric and chemical addiction facility serving the child and adolescent population of the state of South Carolina. Additionally, this position serves as a liaison between the DIS HIS division and the clinical manager of the Outpatient Medical Clinic to facilitate consistency and compliance with DIS HIS policies and procedures regarding HIS functions.

You will develop, implement and maintain WSHPI HIS policies and procedures to assure compliance with standards of TJC, DHEC, Federal/State Laws, DMH policies and DIS HIS Division policies. Maintains bi-annual AHIMA certification and provide copy for placement in personnel folder.

You will supervise the Coding, Insurance, Medical Records and ROI HIS departments. Analyze work volume, productivity and time frame expectations to determine and justify staffing needs. Interviews, selects, hires and trains new staff. Establishes planning stage and completes EPMS. Provides counseling regarding personnel issues and job performance. Ensures staff obtain annual PPD's, attend mandatory training and meets time and attendance requirements. Promotes and fosters the establishment of a HIS department which is harrassment-free, sensitive to Cultural and Age-Specific awareness and adheres to compliance and HIPAA standards.

You will perform audits of all areas to ensure that work is performed accurately, timely and in accordance with established policies and procedures. Based on evaluation results, update policies and procedures accordingly and provides follow-up training.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Requirement: A high school diploma and relevant experience in business management, public administration, or administrative services or a bachelor's degree may be substituted for the required work experience.

*Agency Requirements: * A bachelor's degree in business administration or library science and four (4) years' experience in records maintenance activities, or graduation from an approved school of medical records and three (3) years' experience in records maintenance activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications: Credentialed as a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or a Registered Health information Technician (RHIT).
