SC Department of Public Safety Clinical Director Primary Care in Richland County, South Carolina

Job Responsibilities

The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership for the daily clinical operations in Primary Care to ensure quality care within a patient-centered team environment. The Clinical Director will provide strategic leadership as well as patient care and will be responsible for supervision of medical providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants). They will assume responsibility for supervision and oversight of daily medical services, programs, and activities to scheduling to ensure easy access, quality and affordable. As a licensed physician, provides team-based primary medical care within approved privileges, scope of practice and within the patient-centered medical home standards. Coordinates patient care, consultations, and referrals within the department, and with other University, state, and community providers. Individual is required to maintain board certification and undergo PEER review quarterly to maintain credentialing and privileges. The Clinical Director is considered essential personnel and is required to report to campus during weather-related closures and campus emergencies. Limited weekend and evening work is required to meet patient care needs and will be required during campus emergencies.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Graduation from accredited medical school, completion of residency training, and 3 years’ experience. Licensed (unrestricted) to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina (or eligible to be licensed). Board Certified in specialty area and maintain certification throughout employment. Have or ability to obtain CPR and ACLS certification upon employment. DEA certificate required. Obtain and maintain credentialing, privileging, and Board Certification always during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience as a physician leader (supervisor) with increasing responsibility and at least 3 years’ experience in adolescent health (17-25-year-old). Experience and documented success implementing quality initiatives and moving an organization to embrace quality team-based patient outcomes. Evidence of potential for building and leading a substantial department.
