Tidelands Health Supervisor Imaging Services - Georgetown Memorial Hospital (Georgetown, SC) in Myrtle Beach Area, South Carolina

Position Summary:

The Supervisor of Imaging Services provides quality assurance for the X-Ray modality, as well as provides performance improvement analysis and contributes to action plans to improve day to day operations in all imaging departments, as well as general operational issues. The Supervisor serves as the primary educator and “go-to” technologist for all technologists for all Tidelands Health areas of responsibilities. Provides assistance in forming policies, programs, and protocols, acts as a liaison for IT/PACS downtime communication, performs daily rounding on all modalities to communicate and motivate staff, as well as works in a manner to conserve TH resources and utilizes A-3 thinking when necessary. The Supervisor assures imaging department operates within SC DHEC and Joint Commission standards and assures licensures for all imaging staff. The Supervisor creates and maintains an effective line of communication with all staff, physicians, and leaders while helping define and provide excellent patient care. The Supervisor completes accurate medical record documentation and observes for opportunities for efficiency and accuracy improvements. The Supervisor oversees procedures for proper documentation, provides excellent patient care, demonstrates excellent customer service, and assumes “on call” rotation as needed. The Supervisor performs timekeeping reconciliation responsibilities for all imaging staff, as well as scheduling for the X-Ray modality. Technologists are required to cover all sites as needed and perform other duties as assigned.

Other duties include:

  • Monitor patient flow and wait times, assign additional staff or perform scans personally as needed.

  • Control expenses and costs associated with the imaging department.

  • Supervise the performance of staff and complete evaluations in conjunction with Imaging Director in a timely manner.

  • Effectively recommend hiring, terminating, counseling and disciplining staff technologists in conjunction with Imaging Director.

  • Covers Imaging Director for all modalities within Imaging department if Imaging Director is unavailable.

  • Serves as back-up to the Imaging Director for budget and charge reconciliation.



  • A.A.S. in Radiologic Technology required.


  • Five (5) years imaging experience required.

  • Prior imaging staff leadership experience preferred.

  • Healthcare system based experience on quality and patient safety initiatives preferred.


  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certified required; preferred in Radiology Technology/X-Ray modality

  • Certified in two or more (2+) modalities preferred.


  • Familiarity with Microsoft programs, to include but not limited to Word, Excel and Outlook required.

  • Strong organization and multitasking skills required.

  • Proven Excellence in organizational skills required.

  • Prior experience with Meditech preferred.

Physical Requirements: Light-Medium Physical Agility Test (PAT) Rating

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently (activity or condition exists from 1/3 to 2/3 of the time) required to stand, sit, and walk; frequently to use hands, fingers; and frequently to talk or hear. The employee must exert 15 to 20 pounds of force occasionally (activity or condition exists up to 1/3 of the time), and/or 5 to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
