Tenet Healthcare RN ER PRN in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina

Underthe direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, provides directand/or indirect, safe and effective professional nursing care. Assumes responsibility for assessing,planning, implementing, and evaluating health care needs of all patientsassigned. Provides nursing care to apatient population ranging from infant to geriatric, unless otherwiseindicated. Works collaboratively withthe health care team, is customer focused and strives to meet unit and hospitalgoals. Provides quality nursing careaccording to established practice standards and guidelines for the area(s)assigned. Must be willing/able to floatto other (comparable) nursing units, as requested/needed.

Other Qualifications

· Knowledge ofgeneral nursing theories and practice

· Previous EDexperience preferred

· Must havemanagement and teaching ability

· Must be able toeffectively motivate and supervise others.

· Must be able toutilize initiative and independent action when required within the scope ofprofessional nursing practice

· Must be able toutilize good judgment in evaluating alternatives in difficult situations.

· Must be able towork with the realization that errors in receiving and transcribing order,giving medications, treatments, or performing other procedures or performingsupervisory duties could have detrimental effects to the patients.

· Must have goodverbal communications skills

· Must have theability to exercise tact and diplomacy when dealing with physicians, patientsand family members personnel

· Discretion isrequired in handling confidential information

· Must be able towork irregular schedules, weekends and holiday due to staffing and censusfluctuations

· Must be able toassume the role of a Charge Nurse as needed/requested

· Must participateon the Rapid Response/Code Blue team

· Must perform allunit specific competencies

· Determinespatient acuity utilizing ESI triage method

· Must be able toassess, care for, manage, evaluate and troubleshoot potential or actuallife-threatening emergencies/disorders and associated equipment

· Must be able toadminister and manage all critical medications

· Must demonstrateproficiency in arrhythmia detection and management

Education

· Currentunrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina

· Successfulcompletion of nursing service orientation program

· Attends IVTherapy training and/or demonstrates competency in intravenous therapy withinone year

· Attends SkillsFair and completes yearly competency checklists

· Maintainscompetency and/or certification specific to departmental requirements

· Must have currentBLS/ACLS/PALS certifications, TNCC within 1 year of hire

· Advancedcertification in specialty field and/or participation in professionalorganization(s) encouraged
