SC Department of Public Safety Medical Assistant Technician II (Dental Hygienist) Repost in Laurens County, South Carolina
The Dental Hygienist performs dental screening and dental hygiene procedures on residents to optimize dental health. The Dental Hygienist provides training to residents and staff regarding maintaining good dental health. The Dental Hygienist assists the Dentist with dental procedures as needed. The Dental Hygienist performs duties under the provision of the SC State Board of Dentistry Practice Act.
- Performs clinical dental procedures, including but not limited to, oral screenings/examinations, prophylaxis, and assists Dentist with dental procedures.
- Sterilizes instruments as needed and performs other infection control procedures.
- Documents treatments and screenings in the dental record. Ensures an accurate schedule is maintained for annual appointments. Schedules appointments as appropriate. Ensures consents are obtained and current for dental services. Assists with requested reports (ISP, inventory, etc.). 4.Training is provided to residents and staff regarding proper dental hygiene.
- Referrals to outside dental providers (oral surgeons, periodontists, etc.) are made as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Dentist.
Minimum and Additional Requirements
Graduate of an accredited dental hygiene program and Licensure as a Dental Hygienist in S.C.
Knowledge of the principles and techniques of dental hygiene. Knowledge of the usage and operation of materials and instruments used in dental practices. Ability to explain the fundamentals of dental care to individuals and staff. Ability to organize and present educational materials to groups. Ability to prepare dental files, charts, and records.
