Job Summary:

Receives and accurately schedules requests for outpatient diagnostic services as well as inpatient direct admissions from physician offices, patients, service departments within Roper St. Francis Healthcare and other facilities in the tri-county area. Verifies the testing order is received and ready for the patient’s visit, on appropriate accounts checks Medical Necessity and discusses as needed with the physician’s office. Contacts patients to verify demographic information, obtain insurance requirements, collect co-pays or deposits as required, obtains pre-cert and authorizations for appropriate visits, verifies insurance information and ensures that patient is ready for visit. Primary role is to Pre-Collect all estimated funds due prior to the patient's appointment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Associates degree preferred

Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in a financial setting and/or health care setting (registration knowledge, medical terminology experience preferred). Excellent customer service skills. Experience in medical collections prior to the service is strongly preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Typing speed of 45-50 wpm preferred; basic computer skills required; PC and Windows experience preferred; good organizational skills and the ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and deadlines; strong math skills; excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills to effectively deal with customers and staff; ability to diplomatically and respectfully deal with customers (both in person and via telephone). Ability to elicit and evaluate information, sometimes of a highly personal and sensitive nature from a broad spectrum of individuals and agencies; maintain confidentiality; read, interpret and apply regulatory policies and procedures; work with minimal supervision and with extensive detail; prepare written correspondence using correct grammar, punctuation and spelling; coordinate functions and work cooperatively with others.

Other: Requires use of General Office Equipment including, but not limited to: Computer, calculator, fax machine, printer, scanner, credit card devices, copier, and headset.
