Under general supervision, performs Administrative Support duties for client services seasonal influenza immunization services to students and other outbreak response in Lowcountry Region School Districts and community. Implements and adheres to agency/program policies and procedures for efficient service delivery. Provides quality customer service and maintains strict confidentiality.

Provides Client Services: Meets, interviews and directs public health clients per program policies in a School Located Clinic. Processes information, completes medical record, clinic packets and updates client profile in Client Automated Encounter System (CARES). Enters all client information into applicable electronic applications to include CARES, Private Pay and others. Answers telephone and schedules appointments, as needed. Screens and updates eligibility based on program requirements/guidelines. Adheres to Third Party/Private Pay policies when applicable. Responds and participates in emergency or disaster as outlined in the DHEC Emergency Plans. Assists with other tasks related to School Located Vaccination Clinics. Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirement: *A high school diploma. Related clerical experience may be substituted for a high school diploma. Some positions assigned to this class require a commercial driver's license. *Institutions of Higher Learning must be recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

*Agency Additional Requirements: *High school diploma or GED AND two (2) years medical office/clinical clerical experience which includes public contact OR an Associates’ Degree in Secretarial Science or a related field and two (2) years of clerical office experience.

Must possess the ability to empathize with the needs of the typical public health patient. Must possess tact and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with co-workers and general public. Able to follow written and oral instructions. Ability to collect and assemble information in a clear and concise manner. Must be flexible, dependable, and willing to be cross-trained as needed. Ability to maintain strict patient confidentiality. Must have good attendance.

Must have current driver's license or ability to obtain transportation. May require use of personal vehicle. Travel required to multiple school clinic locations. Must be able to lift 30 pounds and stand for long periods. May be required to work weekday, evening and/or weekend clinics and to participate in community outreach activities. Must work a minimum of three (3) days a week.

Preferred Qualifications

Must be able to type thirty-five (35) correct words per minute. Must have advanced computer skills and office equipment knowledge.

All new employees who are healthcare providers are required to provide documentation of immunity or be immunized against measles, mumps, rubella, pertussis, Varicella and Hepatitis B prior to beginning employment.

In accordance with the State's Disaster Plan, which includes hazardous weather, DHEC employees may be required to work in times of an emergency or disaster.
