Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System Monitor Tech in Greer, South Carolina
Position Summary
Performs tasks related to the monitoring of heart rates and rhythms. The monitor tech must be able to recognize dysthymias and communicate clearly to the appropriate person(s). The monitor tech will collaborate with leadership in developing and implement the Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System’s Mission, Vision and Goals.
Minimum Requirements
Education
High School Graduate or equivalent
Experience
License/Registration/Certifications
Heartsaver - CPR
Certificate for successful completion of an arrhythmia course

Basic Computer Skills
Knowledgeable in use of and response to Facility Alerts/Medical Alerts/Medical Emergency Systems
Identifies areas for improvement and seeks ways to work on self-defined weaknesses
Remains committed to unit, department and division goals
Attends continuing education classes offered at Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System
Reports risk management concerns to appropriate person
Adheres to proper chain of command
Serves as an information resource for staff
Maintains visual checks on monitors constantly until relieved by a qualified person (s)
Monitors are observed continuously, and the patient’s rhythm is documented every eight (8) hours to include date, time, rate, rhythm, PR interval, QRS duration, QT interval, rhythm interpretation, ST analysis
Assures that alarms are maintained in the “ON” position and are audible at all times
Reports mechanical difficulties to the appropriate person and follows up as necessary
Reports any life-threatening rhythms or rhythms of significant change immediately to the nurse.
Ensure individual telemetry units are cleaned after each use
Admit and discharge patients from system in a timely manner
- Dispenses and receives monitoring equipment
