Location/Division Specific Information

Our site is in Florence, SC and is the East facility part of the Pharma Service Group in the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) division. We manufacture drug substances from late Phase II trials through to commercial.

How will you make an impact?

The solid-state lab works to characterize the physical properties of the final drug substance (API). Understanding of physical properties of APIs is needed for proper drug formulation and drug product development.

What will you do?

  • Responsible for method development and validation of XRPD, particle size distribution, and DSC.

  • Aid in maintaining GMP qualification state of analytical equipment.

  • Support process research and development using solid state characterization techniques.

The solid-state lab is responsible for developing and validating testing methods used by Quality Control to support manufacturing of our finished goods. We also work with early phase, formulation, and drug product on process development projects that are specific to physical properties, such as crystalline form, particle size, and thermal properties.

How will you get here?

Education

  • BSc. in Chemistry, Physics, or Material Science

Experience

  • 4 - 5 years working in analytical method development in pharmaceuticals.

  • Experience in a drug product analytical group is preferred but not required.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of GMP method development and validation work

  • X-ray diffraction, particle size analysis by laser diffraction, and differential scanning calorimetry is preferred.

  • TGA, DVS, SEM, BET is not required but is a bonus.
