Hospice Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Part Time


Location : Pruitthealth Hospice Pee Dee - covering Myrtle Beach area.


Toassist the United Hospice team in providing nursing care to hospice patients.


  • Providespalliative nursing care and ongoing support in the home as ordered on the planof treatment and nursing plan of care.

  • Functionsas a team member demonstrating collaboration with, and responsibility topatient, caregiver, physician, interdisciplinary team.

  • Carries outthe pain management and symptom management plan to keep the patient ascomfortable as possible. Reassesses the patient and notifies the registerednurse (RN) when pain is not manageable on the current medications.

  • Responds tothe physical, mental, social and emotional needs of terminally ill patients andtheir families.

  • Adheres toall agency, payroll, billing, and documentation policies and procedures.

  • Demonstratesknowledge f medications and their correct administration based on age of thepatient and patient’s clinical position.

  • Address andsupports cultural practices, as long as such practices do not harm others.

  • Completesall documentation accurately and in accordance with company policy andprocedures.

  • Makesreferrals to interdisciplinary team members and other providers, functioning asa team member and demonstrating collaboration with and responsibility to thepatient, physician, and interdisciplinary team.

  • Assists inteaching the patient/family about provisions for care and services.

  • Demonstratesknowledge of medications and their correct administration.

  • Participatesin Performance Improvement Program.

  • Participatesin and presents inservice programs, team conferences, and staff meetings.

  • Providesskilled nursing care to assigned patients/families as outlined in the plan ofcare.

  • Participatesin the development of the patient/family interdisciplinary care plan.

  • Responds tothe physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of the terminallyill patient and their families with respect to their age, religious andcultural practices.

  • MakesNursing Services available on an ongoing basis, including regular nursingvisits per the patient’s plan of care and /or patient’s needs and as directedby the RN Case Manager. The LPN may not complete the Initial NursingAssessment.

  • Monitorseducational needs of each patient and provides education, training and supportas necessary with appropriate documentation on the nursing visit record.

  • Performsother duties as assigned by the DHS or Administrator.


  • A thoroughunderstanding of Hospice Regulations (federal, state, and local government).

  • Possessexcellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Excellentorganizational skills.

  • Ability tohandle confidential matters.

  • Ability towork a flexible schedule.

  • Commitmentto the Hospice concept and standards.

  • Ability tointeract with a variety of different age groups.




State minimum educationto obtain an LPN license.


A minimum of three (3) years of nursing experience isdesirable.

Hospice or home care experience is preferred.


Currently licensed as an LPN in the states where you willprovide care.

Must have current driver’s license and valid automobileliability insurance.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: (Preferredqualifications)

  • Ability towork effectively independently and within an interdisciplinary team

  • Orientationto Hospice and any other training that may be necessary to complete theassigned duties effectively.
