JobSummary: This position performs high quality EEGs(routine and video) and epilepsy monitoring. Has the ability to scan,correlate, and clip study information. Facilitates all aspects of studycompletion and reporting within the department. Actively participates inoutstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintainingrelationships that are equally respectful to all healthcare personnel. The EEGTechnologist is knowledgeable in and carries out all applicable processes ofthe department. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedureswithin the department. Teaches and directs the work of other staff and studentsas required. Performs other duties as assigned by the manager of the EEGdepartment. Education: Graduate of a CAAHEP Accredited Electroneurodiagnostic(END) Program.

Experience:Minimumof6yearsofENDexperience required.

Number and Type of Employees Supervised: None

Licensure, Registry or Certification Required: RegisteredEEG Technologist. BLS required.

Special Training: Must be detailed-oriented, organized, and have excellentoral, written, and communication skills.

Age of Patients Rendered Care: All Age Groups

Key Responsibilities:

? Performs high quality EEGs including awake and asleepstudies, video EEGs, cerebral silence, photic stimulation, and portable EEGs.

? Independently performs calibrations and evaluations andadjusts the EEG instrument to the proper technical standards with emphasis onsensitivity, time axis, and mechanical/electrical baselines in order to obtaintop-quality EEG recordings.

? Performs EEGs in accordance with 10-20 system outlined byABRET.

? Performs EEGs in accordance with the Medical Directorguidelines, departmental policies, and departmental procedures on patients ofall ages.

? Understands how to interpret EEGs, identifies the differenttypes of seizures, and documents this information in the recording when thepatient is having an event.

? Communicates with physicians and team members concerningpatients. Examples may include: test availability and email notifications tophysicians concerning transfer of studies or change in patient condition.

? Recognizes and responds to life-threatening situations.

? Maintains a high skill level of knowledge of EEG throughongoing education and sharing that information with staff members.

? Assists EEG techs with technical issues arising duringremote monitoring or EEG setups.

? Provides insight and ideas on how to improve staff morale,quality control, education, and customer service.

? Promotes individual professional growth and developmentmeeting requirements for mandatory/ continuing education and skills competency.

? Conducts peer-to-peer evaluations quarterly by monitoringtechs hookups to ensure that the procedures are being done according to thepediatric and adult protocols.

? Maintains equipment and makes minor adjustments as indicated.
