POSITION PURPOSE

The Director of the Med/Surg Department is a registered, professional nurse who, under the supervision of the Chief Nursing Officer, supervises and directs nursing care, and all related activities, in a designated area according to policies, procedures, mission and objectives of MUSC Health Chester Medical Center. The Director of the Med/Surg Department is responsible for recommending, developing, and implementing policies and procedures for the unit and for informing the CNO of both progress and potential problems. The Clinical director will provide professional nursing care, initiate contact with the physicians and patients to establish and address needs and expectations, and serve as a rescource person for other staff members. The director is responsible for the direction and evaluation of patient care delivery and for collaborating with all members of the health care team. The work reflects the philosophy of the hospital as well as the mission of the department of nursing.

Education:

Graduate of an accredited School of professional Nursing

Associate's degree, Diploma, or BSN Graduate

License/CertificationsCurrent RN licensure to practice in SC

Current BLS, PALS and ACLS certifications on hire
