Job Summary: The department of Pharmacology is currently recruiting for a Research Specialist III in their Ball Lab. The Ball lab with technical expertise in conducting experiments at the organism, cellular, and biochemical level to evaluate the regulation, activity, and functional consequences of nucleo-cytoplasmic protein O-GlcNAc modification mediated by O-GlcNAc transferase and O-GlcNAcase enzymes.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 6: $40,759.00 - $58,086.00 - $75,413.00 (min - mid - max)

Job Duties:

  • 35% - Performance of standard molecular biology, tissue culture, and biochemical approaches with experience with adeno- or lenti-viral vectors. This will include establishing, maintaining, and validating breast cancer cell lines that overexpres O-GlcNAc transferase. Establishment of IBC approved SOPs is required. - (Essential)

  • 25% - Metabolic labeling of cells for quantitative proteomic analysis to identify differentially regulated O-GlcNAc transferase substrates by LC-MS/MS. This includes development and optimization of biochemical methodology for reproducible and robust enrichment of O-GlcNAcylated peptides for mass spectrometric identification. - (Essential)

  • 20% - Training of graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in cell culture methods and assays developed. - (Essential)

  • 20% - Data analysis, statistical evaluation of data, preparation of manuscripts. - (Essential)

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, or other natural, life or health care science directly related to the assigned area of research and two years advanced journal-level work experience in a clinical or research setting.
