Job summary: The Department of Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina, is accepting applications for the position of Director, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care & Sleep Medicine.
We seek an academic physician with a strong focus on research and clinical program development. The candidate will lead and develop the Division’s clinical, educational, and research programs with a commitment to excellence at all levels. A demonstrated passion for articulating vision, achieving objectives, embracing change, and leading transformation is desired.
The division is currently comprised of 30 full time faculty members and has a current operating budget of $13.8 million including $6.3 million in clinical revenue. The division maintains an ACGME accredited fellowship training program leading to Board eligibility in both Pulmonary Medicine and Critical Care Medicine. The fellowship program consists of 17 fellowship positions and recently received a National Research Service Award Institutional Training Grant (T32) from the National Institutes of Health. The division maintains a robust and active research program with over $5.9 million in total grant awards. Major research interests include fibrotic lung disorders, lung cancer, cystic fibrosis, lung injury and repair, alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency, sarcoidosis, pulmonary hypertension, and health services research. The division offers a wide range of clinical services including multi-disciplinary comprehensive care for interstitial lung diseases, sarcoidosis, rare lung diseases, lung transplantation, pulmonary hypertension, cystic fibrosis, non-tuberculous mycobacterial diseases, and sleep-disordered breathing. The division hosts a unique multimodal telehealth program to improve delivery of critical care throughout South Carolina, and is regularly listed in the top hospitals by U.S. News & World Report.
Qualifications include MD degree & Board Certification in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care. Academic credentials that qualify for appointment at the level of Associate Professor or Professor and current, unrestricted, medical licensure in South Carolina or eligibility for unrestricted licensure in South Carolina.
