Job Summary: A postdoctoral researcher position is available immediately in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. We are seeking a talented and self-motivated individual who has training and experience in neuroscience and/or Alzheimer’s disease (AD) research. The successful candidate will pursue cellular and molecular, immunological, imaging and behavioral neuroscience research to study the role of senescence in the pathogenesis and progression of AD. The applicant is expected to have strong communication and interpersonal skills, and be capable of working with a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative team. Candidates should have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. in neuroscience, molecular cell biology, immunology, neurology, or related fields. Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.
30% - In consultation with the PI, design and execute experiments to advance independent research projects. Will be responsible for planning of experiments, developing of new assays and experimental models as needed, trouble shooting, data analysis and interpretation, as well as being able to incorporate the results into manuscripts and grant progress reports. - (Essential)
25% - Will perform and/or train team members for specific assays including histological procedures, IHC, ELISA, viral vector constructs, RT-PCR, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, and mass cytometry (CyTOF). - (Essential)
30% - - Perform standard animal experiments, including care and breeding of transgenic mice, genotyping, injections, surgeries, collecting tissues, isolating various types of primary cells, rodent behavioral tests and data analysis. - (Essential)
10% - Assist PI in training and supervising graduate students, technicians, research assistants and junior lab members. - (Essential)
5% - Attend seminars, career development activities locally and nationally at conferences, submit abstracts and present data at local, national and international meetings, and if applicable write postdoctoral fellowship applications and grant proposals. - (Essential)
