Job summary: The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina is seeking an academically-oriented Hematopathologist with at least 5 years of experience. Rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. This faculty member will serve as the Director of our clinical flow cytometry laboratory and participate in a busy hematology laboratory service, which includes body fluids analysis, coagulation and bone marrow and lymph node diagnostic services. The responsibilities of the Director of flow cytometry include professional oversight and interpretation of studies for immune monitoring, hematopoietic stem cell enumeration and leukemia and lymphoma immunophenotyping. The faculty member should also be proficient in the cytogenetic, and molecular techniques employed in the clinical work-up of cases. The preferred candidate will have experience in fostering collaborative relationships with clinicians and researchers as well as serving as a resource to technologists at the bench. This individual will instruct medical students, participate in the training of pathology residents and hematology fellows, and actively participate in academic mission of the NCI-designed Hollings Cancer Center adult and pediatric hematology malignancy and bone marrow transplant programs. The relative percent effort for research, teaching, administrative duties, and patient care responsibilities will be tailored to the successful applicant’s experience and career goals. The Department offers an ACGME-accredited fellowship training programs in Hematopathology and Molecular Genetic Pathology.

Payscale Salary Range: UNIV-Band 0: Commensurate with experience.
