Roper St. Francis Healthcare Unit Secretary in Charleston, South Carolina

Job Summary:

To assist the staff by performing clerical duties. To maintain and update patient records in a timely, orderly manner. To acknowledge customers upon arrival to unit and to demonstrate enthusiastic friendly approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: Graduate of an accredited high school or GED equivalency examination.

Experience: Previous secretarial experience desirable.

Individuals must successfully complete a basic telemetry class showing competency in basic EKG interpretation within 90 days of employment if applicable to the specific department.

Licensure/Certification: Current American (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) card preferred.

Knowledge/Skills: Knowledge of clerical procedures and medical terminology. Skill in English grammar and spelling. Neat, legible handwriting. Ability to file and maintain patient records, files and reports. Excellent communication skills. Ability to use office equipment, such as multi-line telephones, computer terminals and printers.
